okay i have searched and used advice in the searches but i am still frustrated! when i bought my car last year it only came with a generic key and no remote fob.....the car does however have the keyless entry control box under the center console! so i went out and got a key made from toyota and bought a key fob off of ebay....but i can't get the car to go into the prgramming mode! i read something about our keys having a chip in them???? maybe that is my issue being that my car came with a generic key and the key that i got from toyota may not have the chip in it....guys give me some advice....btw my car is a 99 se!

did you buy the gray remote?....I hope you did, cause the black one wont work with our cars even though it has the same fcc code.
If you need any help, PM me...I have the rs300 as well and I bought a back up remote off of eBay and re-programmed it without any issues.
The hardest thing to do in the whole process is you have to remove the rear center portion of the console to gain access to the button on the side of the rs300 ecu....then you actually have to pull it out, cause the button is behind the mounting bracket(two 10mm nuts).......
BTW, those instructions that the other member posted will work, they are the same ones I used.

I recommend first erasing all previous codes and then programming your remote (the instructions tell you how to do that as well).
