Terrible Noise When I Accelerate

Terrible Noise When I Accelerate

Postby SirMacDaddy » Tue Jan 29, 2008 7:12 pm

Alright, so recently i have been noticing this noise from my car that is starting to worry me about it (one, that something is wrong and two, i have a feeling its going to cost a lot to fix it)

Well, i have a 2001 SE 5spd with about 97k miles on it (i have to drive a lot for work) and now when i accelerate semi-hard after shifting gears, in almost every gear, mostly 2nd, i hear a noise coming from up front, that sounds like something is loose and about to fall apart. it almost sounds like a rattling noise that lasts a long time when i accelerate. really, the only thing that i can compare this horrible noise to is when you start off in a higher gear when going slower than you should, that rattling noise that comes from it. it sorta sounds like this, but worse...

any ideas??

thanks for your time
Omar

Possibly bad engine mounts?

Kind of like that rubber+metal sound under acceleration. A creaking sound almost. Does it sound like that when you're parked and in neutral and just flooring the gas?

Open the hood and have a friend "goose" the pedal a few times in neutral. Don't stick you're head too far into the engine bay though...wouldn't be wearing any loose clothing/jewelry either. Just a precaution.

might be your water pump is dying.

you need to have someone help you step on the gas and you to trace the source of noise.
