I didn't know that the 1MZ-FE motor came in a VVT-i version, the guys description already said it wouldn't fit in a Gen 1. Would there be any way to fit this motor in there? Maybe by making custom motor mounts? I know it isn't practical to make an AWD Solara with this motor, but man that would be awesome. What do you guys think?

The Solara is already pretty hefty, adding an AWD system would not help in the least. Not to mention trying to add all the things required for an AWD setup and the body modifications.

And VVT-i wouldn't be so miraculous that it'd make up for the money lost in putting the motor in. You're better off getting blown (one way or the other :))

Lol, noted. I would have to agree with you on many points you made. A f@%& ton of modifications would have to be made to fit an AWD drivetrain, but it would be cool, maybe not worth the money but nevertheless unique and cool. 8)

hmmm....from the pics, the mount that is on the block won't work, but it should be easily replaceable from one of them mounts from another 1mz, be it a gen3 camry or gen4 camry/solara

and the vvti 1mz is a good upgrade from the non-vvti...it solves the little problem that we have with our 1mzs and its lack of low end torque

If you want a vvti 1mzfe in a gen1-1.5 Solara, get a ES300 engine
