1999 solara v6 has problem on passenger side auto door lock, driver side okay, any help on this problem?

passenger side door lock does not function when u lock all doors from main lock

ive seen this happen on my friends but his is the driver door
when he presses the door lock button, the driver door lock slides, but only half way.. so the driver door remains unlocked. He had a mechanic at the dealership he works at pull it apart and it turned out there was alot of crap lodged in there. He simply cleaned it, oiled it and now it works just fine.
