Engine Startup Problem

Okay.... I'm an old-timer so don't flame me about not searching, I haven't been on for a long time b/c of school up north so I haven't been able to have my Solara up with me in Davis but now I'm back I'm gona get it fixed up and cleaned up and baby it all I can cuz I'm bringing it for the next school year.

So amid the tons of mistreatment at home (my family has been driving it in my absence) a problem that arose is that my engine now will sputter and die out. I have to gas the pedal for a while (warm up the engine) and keep it there to rev up the rpm to almost redline and then back down to a 2 or 3 and wait for a minute to get the engine started. This happens after a long period where I haven't been driving the car (like two days or more... sometimes even a day).

I took it to a local shop and they spoke about a O2 valve or something? Something that needs to be cleaned out? Valve? Anyways I was wondering if someone could detail it and any solutions? Just clean it out or what.

Idle Air Control valve... get that cleaned up along with your Throttle Body (TB)
