i have been debating if i should sell my solara..my solara is a 4 cylinder and it doesnt give me any power at all..it accelaretes slow..very hard to make it cross 110..i was thinking about get a custom turbo..is that possible or putting a scion supercharger in it.. i really dont know anything that much about engines..and will it be really expensive doing this..btw it is a automatic..

Sell it and move on. You have the worse possible combinations for a car: heavy, four cylinder, automatic. I honestly don't think it gets worse than that.

You could turbo the car, but be prepared to spend A LOT of money to do so.

+1

If your intentions are for speed then get something designed for it. 4 cylinder anything (except s2000) is pretty much a gas saver/hybrid in my book.

I can understand simple snap ons to enhance performance. But in a vehicle that's not designed to be raced you're going to spend a lot of money (due to the lack of performance support) in making it substantially fast.

Good luck and keep us posted.

yea thats what i was thinking...it will be to much to put in especially being a college student..so best bet is to make it a classy car such as bodykit and rims and interior and worry about speed..the thing that suxs for me is that i stay in houston tx and their isnt that many ppl that drive solaras here and then get things shipped gets to expensive..i wish i live in cali it seems like that everyone that drives a nice solara stays in cali

Suggestion

Postby JMSinMaryland » Sat May 19, 2007 5:27 am

1. Tint (20%-30%)
2. Drop (Eibach/Tokico)
3. Rims (18")

If I had to do my Solara all over again (and I had everything TRD offered for a V6 5-speed) I would do only the above.

in my personal opinion I dont think solaras are meant for speed. sure they can be made faster.. but that isn't without at least quite a bit of pocket change. you can look at DatsRBoi, or Tabasco, or Paladin's cars. their cars are close to 300 hp or over. I think they are all 6 cyls? (correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Tabasco's was a 4??) ..
in either case I find the solara a unique car to mod, at least over here in chicago, not like your daily civic or integra you see on the road.

If all else fails.. use naws son!! :drinking:

No Offense

I'd have to list the pioneers as Tabasco, Paladin, JoeB, TRD4Life and Glock (in no random order). Some guys that don't show up anymore include Tiem? (in TX) and a few others.

Yes - that will be fast. Very fast. Wise for a starving college student? Prolly not, but you'll get street respect and babes with it - what more do you need?
