Clutch Accumulator

I recently took my car in to fix a leaking clutch. The mechanic said the clutch accumulator was leaking and that he could bypass it to fix the leak. I was quoted at like 200 to get the accumulator fixed. He said his bypass would be fine. I've looked the clutch accumulator up on google and stuff and i couldnt find much information. Anyone knows what it does and if i could damage my car by not getting it fixed right away.
